The contrast of fresh white tile (with a slight gray grain) would look stunning if juxtaposed with hardwood floors in the rest of the home. This skinny tile would look especially fun done in a chevron pattern. Sold by the square foot. Dimensions: 4" x 12"

A dark gray porcelain floor tile would ground the mudroom and withstand all that a busy family would throw its way. Go for large tiles with medium to dark grout and small grout lines to make cleaning a cinch.
