I never would have thought about having a herb garden like this.
a few pots of peppers and herbs, and you may be surprised at how easy it is to fit in one or two small raised beds. If you’ve been considering adding an edible garden, why not make this the year to try it? Start with a small, manageable garden, and grow the veggies and herbs you like to eat. Doing your
greens. "My favorite to grow is arugula," she says. "I could eat that every day!"

Because herbs grow so well in a group, keeping them together on an étagère, as Houzz user Dedeme68 has done in her garden in Australia, can help them thrive. This is a great way to keep fresh herbs at hand without the dedication of a full plant

I put in last years, not months. The drainage in my beds is perfect for vegetables, so they're not rotting out quickly. Even in 10-year-old beds, when I deep-dig and expose the bottom timbers, there's very little, if any, fungal etching, even along the seams of unlined beds.
Grow herbs right on the deck. Great idea.

place on deck for fresh herbs and quick salad
would like this for some tomato plants and maybe a few herbs and maybe clematis and /or roses???
Would be nice for my herbs
vertical space with frames and arches is a good way to add an important structural dimension to your cook’s garden. It’s also an excellent method for growing vegies in limited areas such as on this deck space. Don’t restrict your vertical supports to tomatoes, beans and pea plants, though. Train vegetables

Seasonal interest: Year-round When to plant: Spring to fall
otanical name: Juniperus horizontalis Common name: Creeping juniper Origin: Native to the northern U.S. Where it will grow: Hardy to -30 degrees Fahrenheit
You may sometimes see large window boxes planted with boxwood to create miniature formal hedging, but when space is valuable, hedges aren't a priority. Here we see a hanging hedge of horizontally growing juniper conifers used to soften the concrete retaining wall.
and one of my favorites for low maintenance and year-round good looks is creeping juniper, a low-growing shrub that’s native to the U.S. and grows in a wide variety of conditions. In the wild it grows on rocky outcroppings in places like the Maine coast and British Columbia, so it’s adaptable to salt

You may not run your own organic co-op farm, but you can still go local by growing your own produce. There is nothing as beautiful as a productive garden. Can you get that swiss chard for me now?

every year). Tip: If you're growing berries near a walkway or door, look for thornless berries.
When vines or other climbing plants are placed near a trellis, their spiraling tendrils automatically grab onto it. Freestanding trellises allow you to grow vertically even when a permanent structure isn't
