This warm and inviting residence, designed in the California Wine Country farmhouse vernacular, for which the architectural firm is known
a cozy flagstone patio with fireplace. Lift-n-slide doors are also found in the master bedroom, the main house’s guest room, the guest house and the pool house. A number of materials were chosen to lend an old farm house ambience: corrugated steel roofing, rustic stonework, long, wide flooring planks
JMAJMA (Jim Murphy and Associates)
Home built by JMA (Jim Murphy and Associates); designed by Hart Howerton. Photo credit: Tim Maloney, Technical Imagery Studios. Used as a weekend/vacation home for a family based in San Francisco, the owners wanted the home to be built in the Mediterranean style, but desired the interior design to possess
humor and whimsy in the distinctive sculptures and other artwork that embellish the home. In addition to the main house, there is a guest house, plunge pool, detached garage and promenade/tower. During construction, numerous native oak trees were preserved.
