The sustainably harvested, natural Eastern Maple wine cellar is temperature controlled with a top-of-the-line, water-based cooling system. The cooling system is concealed behind the cabinet doors. Through a unique design, cool air is delivered to the wine cellar from this cooler in such a way that you can't see where it's coming from, yet the wine is perfectly chilled.

Kessick designed this built-in wine cabinet for a customer who was having extensive remodeling done to his historic craftsman bungalow by the design built firm of O’leary-Cole (www.treycole.com). Kessick provided the plans and consultation wine racking and CellarPro cooling system. The builder constructed the space, put in the proper insulation and vapor barrier, and installed a standard off-the –shelf pre-hung door unit. The wine cellar was very well insulated and had a good connection to cold ground temperatures so that very little cooling was required. The cooler is concealed behind the individual bottle racking. Since the racking is porous, the cooler breathes through the racking and the client does not have to see the unsightly cooler in his cellar.

This wine cellar is located in the basement of a well-appointed, turn-of-the-century home. The clients wanted the wine cellar to look as if it was original to the house. Sustainably harvested Canadian Eastern Maple was stained Dark Walnut. Despite it's heritage feel, concealed in the walls is a cutting edge, water-based cooling system which breathes through discreetly placed grills on the wall. The glass-enclosed wine cellar stands at the entrance to this magnificent condo overlooking the Mag. Mile. The cellar had to stand-out. The challenges included keeping the racking design simple, yet dramatic, and all the while maximizing storage. In addition, where could we place the heat from the wine cellar cooling unit? The cooling unit is a water-cooled unit tied directly into the building's 4-pipe cooling system, which is operating 24/7, 365 days per year because of the commercial accounts in the building....
