That's right...they are blue pansies. We plant them in fall and enjoy them from Feb. to May. I usually take them out when I'm ready to plant summer annuals.
Blue are pansies, grow in cool spring weather
weather. Where I live (Deep South) we plant in fall and enjoy over the winter until late Spring.
The red plant is a weeping cut leaf maple tree. Acer palmatum dissectum 'Crimson King'. I hope this helps!

I have never tries , but if you put youur question in Google, most answers are " Yes-Pansies are indeed edible flowers. They are often used to decorate cakes or salads.".There you go.
