What is the name of the purple plant?
Thanks for the photo and plant ID - you might be right. Aubretia is of European origin and the species is found growing in rocky outcroppings where soil is poor. Hardy to USDA Zone 5-7. Definitely a great perennial for a stone wall or rock garden.
creep over the wall in mounds) and Aubrieta (with prolific bright purple blooms in spring and fall) are some of my favorite trailing alpines. 12/2013

This modern trellis can eventually let the plants provide full privacy.
Cover a ScreenSome rampant climbers have a bad reputation, but used carefully and kept under control, they can be of great use as screening plants on suitable structures. The most rampant of these climbers in temperate climates is Russian Vine (Fallopia baldschuanica), but even this can be treated
Last, but not least, a small space may best be screened by a combination of a structure and plants. Grid-like fences (or sturdy trellises) and vines can be used in very tight spaces to provide plenty of privacy without sacrificing the delights of

Corner planting with red curved planting underneath
A mass planting of a single plant, a throwback to the days of large estates, is highly effective, especially in a traditional setting. Here the color of the annuals plays off the color of the house yet doesn't compete with the architectural lines.

Hi, glad you like the plants! The closest bed includes Autumn Joy Sedum, Blue Forest juniper, Firefly heather, assorted lewisia and sedums, Quick Silver Hebe and a couple of little cushion cryptomeria that I can't recall the name of. The spirea is Magic Carpet and the blue is actually a catmint although

gardens and green walls designed by Paul serve as the focal point of the home's central courtyard and pool area. "I did it over about a nine-month period and added bits and pieces as I went," he says. The garden is planted with native lithophytic and epiphytic plants, which grow off other plants and rocks.
Chihuly installation.Planting and designing with bromeliads couldn't be easier. Since most have limited root systems, they're relatively easy to dig up and relocate as needed, which is especially useful for growers who experience freezes in winter.
