Pogany Architecture

I've been trying to think about how the experience working with Pogany could have been improved -- and I can't think of one. Andrei is passionate about the craft of architecture, impeccable in his aesthetic sensibilities, and responsive to his clients' needs and idiosyncrasies. In the 18 month from conception to move-in, every meeting or conversation left me more inspired and excited about the project. My only regret is that, with this perfect renovation designed and executed by Andrei, I'm unlikely to have the chance to work with him again anytime soon!

I'm a first time home owner, and what a first home it is! The original house was not up to current building codes to say the least. It was a 100 year old DIY that was pretty much an unlivable disaster. My contractor suggested Andrei, as they have worked together frequently in the past, and he came over to evaluate my property. I was immediately struck by his imagination and "out-of-the-box" thinking. Most of the other people that I had brought over to evaluate the property had only griped about the negatives (and there were a lot!), but Andrei saw nothing but the positives. He pointed out that since my porches were covered we could "enclose" them and add interior square footage without increasing the footprint (which we could not do), so my little house went from 380 sq ft to 420 sq ft.! Instant equity! Andrei completely re-imagined the entire property into a mid-century masterpiece by creating dynamic sun-splashed volume with a pitched roof that slopes from an interior height of 10 1/2 feet in front to 8 1/2 in rear. As a result the house feels twice as spacious! Besides his imagination and design skills, another huge asset was his dealings with the city. My project had so many hurdles and hoops, and Andrei navigated all of them masterfully. I still can't believe I get to live in this house! Thanks Andrei!
