Due to the material used (Cor-ten steel) and the labor of aligning each blade of steel precisely, the cost of this fence is quite prohibitive.

The fence is made of 10 ft tall cor-ten steel blades which are embedded in a 2ft deep concrete foundation below grade. The blades stand 8ft tall above grade.

Yes this fence is made of Cor-Ten steel blades. As it was designed, it would not be pool compliant because the 8" openings between the blades to too wide.

Each of the blades is secured in a poured concrete foundation about 2 ft deep. Because there are no horizontal supports the blades actually become kenetic and move with the wind like cattails, hence the name "Cor-Ten Cattails" fence.

The Hobbit House is actually not a real "house" but infact a private museum to house the client's extensive collection of J.R.R. Tolkien memorabilia. There is a reception hall, gallery, and library, but no bedroom and kitchen. I suppose you could make a comfy bed out of the stacks of Tolkien manuscripts! :)

The island countertop is made of soapstone. Soapstone is a great choice for kitchen countertops because of its durability and stain resistence. Despite its durability, however, it does scratch easily and requires regular oiling. Sopstone also tends to be more expensive than typical granites or marble because of its rarity.
