BCV Architects is a San Francisco-based design firm with a passion for creating exquisitely detailed environments that meet the lifestyle needs of its clients. BCV was founded in 1997 by principals Hans Baldauf, Kenneth Catton and Christian von Eckartsberg, and our portfolio of work has grown to encompass a variety of project types, including houses, hospitality, retail, commercial and civic architecture.
BCV applies timeless, sustainable design to projects in a wide diversity of scales, from the master planning of large urban developments to the furnishings and light fixtures for our custom homes. BCV's restrained and elegant designs create projects that endure, and seamlessly integrate architecture with interiors. Whether the project aesthetic tends toward the traditional or contemporary, BCV believes in sound fundamental principles of design, finding inspiration and beauty not in overly self-conscious gestures, but rather in the restraint of attention paid to context, scale, proportion, quality of materials and execution of details.
A hallmark of our custom home projects is the embracing of the West’s indoor/outdoor lifestyle, incorporating expansive openings at living and dining areas, elegant guest and pool houses, and the integration of outdoor cooking and entertaining spaces. Our proficiency in the design of restaurants has also allowed us to craft true chef’s kitchens in our clients’ homes, including wood-fired pizza ovens and rotisseries.
Residential, hospitality, retail, commercial and civic architecture and interior design.
