Business Description
BEST of HOUZZ 2013-14

Established in 1999, CAST architecture is a small firm specializing in modern design and sustainable practices in the Northwest. Our design work has been featured in many publications, such as Fine Homebuilding, and were recently selected as one of the top young architecture firms in the Northwest by the Seattle AIA.

CAST architecture brings broad expertise and an integrated team of consultants and contractors in a creative collaborative which fuels innovative design solutions for specific challenges, budget and site.

Our work is vibrant and expressive, yet very pragmatic. The success of our projects can be measured by the improved quality of life our clients experience through the transformative power of a great design.

CAST began as a design/build firm, and our roots as a general contractor ground our work in the practical realities of putting a building together while demanding high craftsmanship on a budget.

The floor is a 3" concrete trowel finish slab with radient heat, no color or stain added. It was poured over a wood framed subfloor (there is a basement below).

I wholeheartedly agree with cacacloeb. I was dropped 15' by my belay partner (when he was busy chatting). Thirteen injuries took 10 years to fully recover. Yes, the flooring was padded with support metal studs. I dropped hard straight down on the metal cross-struts and bounced backwards landing on my head on another set of the cross-struts. The messsage: ensure that there are no distractions to the climber and to the belay partner, the padding support structure is well hidden and properly padded, and if there is an accident, call for an ambulance.
