We always take our shoes off at the door. We have slippers for inside and we keep slip on outdoor shoes by the door for quick trips outside to take out the garbage or to bring in the groceries. I fall into the category of people who don't ask guests to take off their shoes but secretly wish they would. After spending many weekends at festivals recently and using nasty port a potties and restrooms with mystery goo and fluids covering the floors I want to bleach the soles of my shoes. I am surprised by the number of people who think nothing of walking through public restrooms, parks, the pet hospital, the doctors office, etc and then go home and walk those same shoes all over their houses. It's disgusting. I think going to someone's house and leaving your shoes on is very rude. If your host is wearing socks then they probably don't want you wearing your shoes in their home.

I buy shoe covers -- the inexpensive, disposable blue ones that are sold in packs of 100, and keep them for workmen and the occasional guest who would prefer to use covers over their shoes rather than go barefoot. I have a lot of company and no one has ever objected to either taking off their shoes or using a cover. (Think of crime scene shoe covers, they look the same.)

Showers are great. The dirt travels straight into the drain. I couldn't imagine not having a shower. However, bath tubs are so relaxing and comfortable. I'd have to say both. I wouldn't want to be obligated to always use a bath tub though. Whereas, you can always use a shower with no problem.

I have a whirlpool tub but have never used it. The tub only gets used to wash the dog. My last house we removed the tub and put in a walk in shower. No problem selling it. This house has three bathrooms, two with showers and one with the tub.

I love the lines of this couch and the gray makes it a great place for colorful pillows. I also think it would look great on a rug with at least one pop of color in it.. Just about anything can go together if you have unifying wood tones or metals. Can you tell that I prefer an eclectic style of decor?

Tough choice between The Canadian Cottage and Culshaw Bell Kitchenette because both are so charming and white is a great choice for a small space.

I'd choose an empty wall with a painting ) But between those two I choose TV, because books collect dust and get old - it's better to have a separated library room

I still like the cream then. It's a nice neutral background and you can use any color from the bedding as accents. It's also easy to change the room if you go with different bedding as the kids grow.

The blue is lovely but go for crisp white paintwork and ceilings. This is a child's room so should be bright and engaging ie not too muted. Red accessories would look fab.

The image quality of the yellow kitchen is far superior to that of the more neutral. I wouldn't typically choose bright yellow (or any bright color), but the presentation swayed me.

Wall paint colors can be changed, but it is very difficult to restore oak trim once it's been painted. I always like to leave original features of a house. It appears you have oak crown moulding and baseboards also. These give such character to a space. I would recommend light colors for the walls to highlight the natural wood.

@ Fatcat Magnificent "boys" I used to breed the round faced ones in the 70's and was the first breeder in my state to successfully breed a Snowshoe" = siamese cat with white sox. Called him Cameo because he was as beautiful as a piece of fine jewellery. He was such a smooch and very posessive..so much so that I had to ban him from the kitten room as he hated any kitten that received more accolades than he did . That being so he was more spoilt than the rest as far as where he was allowed to sit...everywhere except on benches. Wanted to get him a female but meant travelling to USA and paying $3000!. Never mind. He was neutered and was my pride and joy. How not to allow a siamese cat to live with you?1

Hi Shelby
We didn't have any old pictures but our house is featured in a book called the Settlers dream and has artist conception of what the porch would have looked like and we followed that design presently we are renovating the summer kitchen into our full time kitchen exciting times for this old house :)

I live in Western Pa in the country and do not have a front porch, always wished I did though. I do however, have a very large beautiful back deck along with an attached sun deck. There’s not much of a view with the hillside nearby but its a very relaxing place to sit any time of the day!

Our CALIFORNIA RANCH was built in the mid 1950s. L shaped living/dining room, kitchen filled in the box. Walls built 48 inches up. Shutters were on some of the neighbors. Ours had black wrought iron sculpture. My aunts wall between the kitchen & dining had a breakfast bar. Also served as the buffet during meals. All open but separate. Here it is 2014 & a very familiar floor plan. Only big difference is the 16 ft. vaulted ceiling in the living room, and 9 ft ceilings in the dining & kitchen, & bigger square footage.

I have to keep you updated because I'm simply AMAZED at the results of the spell you performed for me in getting my partner back to me in good health. Everything is going so well and EXACTLY how you said it would be. Even though it took a little time to fully progress, it was so worth it because things are just about at perfection! How you took my situation and completely turned it around to give me exactly what I wanted is beyond me, but something I will never question and just be completely grateful for me coming across you. God Bless you for helping so many people get what their heart desires. You truly gifted! . you can also contact him for help as well (arigbospelltemple@gmail. com)

The more open a shower area is, the further the water and soap spread and the more cleaning is involved. Contain the damage and contain the effort, I say

With both options I would suggest a screen or glass barrier from the flame if you have small children. With fire pits, you can also have a removable 'on/off key' so a child can not accidentally ignite or turn on the gas. This way, you can also ensure the fire pit is supervised each time it is on.

Fireplaces are prettier but much more expensive. Fire pits provide much more warmth if nights are cool where you live.
