Derviss Design The plans are in storage at this time but I recall that the fireplace was about 7 feet wide and possibly 8.5 feet tall.

Derviss Design If this is your front door I would highly recommend not installing a decomposed granite surface. The fine sandy grit that rises to the top surface will track into your house. It's best to use a material that easy to clean and stays put near the front entry. The space is small enough for a lower level entry court yard of cast concrete pavers or flagstone , both can be dry laid. By installing a low hedge or a short privacy fence/ wall further out from the entry court you will create a sense of privacy without closing off the rest of the neighborhood.

Stamps Design Services Here is a clever idea I saw.... It is a patio made up of pavers. Home improvement stores and web sites both have detailed instructions on how to do this. To save some money you could use 12" x 12" cement pavers instead of the smaller pavers.
(Decomposed granite is not readily available as a cheap resource everywhere...)

aloha42 I weigh in on the side of a patio instead of a deck. The area is too small for a layer that high. You would be peering over your fence into your neighbors yard. Create a ground-level oasis for your own pleasure.
