Hi! We got the cap to "float" by supporting it with the rebar verticals that rise out of the block and 90 over into the concrete. Used foam under the concrete which was removed to create gap.

Thanks, it really is striking and simple. (especially in the night photo) Did you need any release agent or does the foam break away clean?

Dear Mr. Cheng.

- PS. I make it a point to take friends and family to Teance whenever I have special out of town guests. It is one of my favorite destinations for renewing my tea stash and 'being in' soulful design.

Dear Michelle,

Thank you so much for your kind words and understanding of our design aesthetic. It is the ultimate reward for the effort we try to infuse in our designs––getting positive feedback from attentive people such as yourself. On our stage, your words are the applause.

Could you possibly share the dimensions of the wood used for the railings? Are they 1X6? So simple yet so beautiful!

Horizontal and vertical members are nominal 2x4 with diagonal members cut down to 1 1/2" x 2 1/2". Rail strength comes from the truss like design. All members are pressure-treated and local codes should be considered. Thanks for your comments.

I think some people overestimate the amount of water that a lawn needs in most areas. I did not have to water my lawn once and it was a long hot Summer with some intermittent rain. Of course, I don't insist that it look perfect and lush, as long as it's general green I'm o.k. with that. I think it's really really important for a new lawn to get lots of water though until it's well rooted. I also make fertilize my lawn a minimum of three tiems per year.

Not a single chair to sit and enjoy your cement? Definitely not my style, but I do think the lack of seating makes a statement about how uninviting some of these spaces are. Maybe some furnishings might help.

The interior design is just fabulous! However - if it were my project, I'd paint street side of the gate in the same brick color as the stone ground dover.
