Fine Art & Portraits by Laurel The photos are all very pretty but WHY must coffee tables be so large? Or even be there. I can't breathe when I look at these stuffed rooms.

wibbus In my opinion, many of these arrangements need reading lights.

Michael Robert Construction Yes I stand by my marble! I have two kids under 3 yrs old, a dog, a messy husband, and entertain all the time. The marble stands up well. Is it pristine after 2 years? No. Would anyone besides me or my husband notice? No way. It's gorgeous and makes me happy every single day. Granite just won't compare.
brider I will second the marble. I posted earlier in this thread. I ended up having honed Danby imperial marble installed. It has been only seven weeks, and granted, i have been more conscious of cleaning spills. However, I have three young boys and I am sloppy when I cook. My son spilled some lemonade the day after installation. Unless you look at a certain angle, in a certain light you see nothing. I dropped a plate on it yesterday a small scratch was made. It honestly doesn't bother me and I am so happy I went with the marble. If I'd scratched or chipped granite, it would bother me more. The marble just looks beautiful even when less than perfect condition. The sealer my fabricator used has a 15 year warranty against stains. It is by DuPont and it is called Bulletproof sealer. So far no stains.

Michael Robert Construction It is a standard Brookhaven color - that is the cabinet company. They are a division of Woodmode. There is only one option like it, so it shouldn't be hard to pinpoint!

warren1980 You're lucky! We have 50 years of paint already on our staircase so we need to paint again. We're going with a chocolate brown. Will do! Hopefully only a few weeks!

Michael Robert Construction I see what you mean because I'm looking online and not seeing them anymore either! I believe they are the Henriksdal also, but with arms. Perhaps they have discontinued them? It's definitely worth calling either the catalogue or your local store to find out if they have them or if they have any info on them. Ikea also has a "scratch and dent" section- these chairs are often used as displays and can be found there. Since they are slip covered, it's really not a big deal if the underneath is used! Just a thought. Good luck! Sorry I didn't have better news. Ellie

Michael Robert Construction Depends on how much wall there is and what look you are trying to achieve. I think it would work if there was something breaking up the walls like several large openings or windows, but if not it may be a lot going on. It will definitely be more of an eclectic feel than this more traditional powder room.

Michael Robert Construction Actually, I just measured and the whole depth inscludinh the seat is only 16". The cubby portion is 11". I was going off the plans before, but these are the actual measurements.

daisybluff Thank you again! We are working with a relatively narrow hallway and trying to keep the hallway wide enough but also have useful storage for 4 kids tHat is really helpful as most I've seen are 24 inches on the depth. Could you share one last measurement? The width of each individual cubby? I appreciate your help!
Michael Robert Construction Most of the measurements are above! I believe each is 15" wide.

Michael Robert Construction I ended up using hides from Ikea- get them on the day of a shipment and you have more than you can imagine to choose from, and at $299 they're a steal! It is so durable. I have another one under my kids' play table and it takes abuse like a champ. They're meant to live outside in the elements, after all.

Brenda too funny ... just bought an Ikea cowhide rug about 3 weeks ago (my cats are still terrified of it). I did save the recipe though 'cause I'd like to find one with both black and brown in it (mine is just black and white). How do you know when Ikea will receive shipments (my closest store is about an hour away so I don't get there all that often)?

Oh ... and I think mine was $199 ... but maybe I'm wrong about that.
Michael Robert Construction Actually I thnk you're right - $199. It's been some time since i've bought one! I don't know... you could call and ask?
