Rough Linen I have found the perfect combination for me, which isn't to say it's for everyone!

Soft goose down queen for sleeping on -
More resilient, cheaper manmade filling king pillow for sitting up in bed, and
A bolster to fill that little corner which eats pillows, between mattress and bedhead.

This recipe is per person, I use it on a queen bed (and sometimes pinch extra pillows from the other side).

Sigrid I have a neck support pillow from Ikea. It took a few weeks to get used to it, but then I went out and bought one for every house. My parents had an expensive neck support pillow, but it wasn't as comfortable.

My husband has a huge pillow filled with duck down plucked or picked up from his grandmother's molting ducks. I've had it dry cleaned a few times, to keep it fresh.

For my kids when they were small, I bought a set of 4 polyester-filled pillows for 10 pounds because I'd had bad luck washing pillows and small kids aren't always that good at leaning off the bed when they wake up sick in the middle of the night.

My observation is that mattress stores are wildly overpriced. Do you research on what you want to buy, then figure out how to buy it for a decent price.
