We feel that way too and that’s why we started Fortunate1. We are Amber Neira and Kate Sheets, the team behind Fortunate1. Starting with classic motifs, we create contemporary color palettes at our California studio, then work with rural Indian artisans who weave our ideas into modern, stylish and colorful textiles. Fortunate1 fabrics are made the same way they have been for centuries, dyed and woven by hand, in limited quantities and without the use of harsh chemicals or even electricity. Our designs are uniquely ours - you won’t see them anywhere else. Most importantly, we honor the artists who help us create these amazing textiles by ensuring they are paid a living wage.
