The George Washington University (GW) Landscape Design program is one of the premiere landscape design programs in the mid-Atlantic region. Launched in the fall of 2003, the program provides a background in horticulture, nursery and planting standards, and the creative process of design. Courses are geared to small-scale landscape design applications with emphasis on sound design principles, good site engineering methods, and creative use of plant materials.

In addition to what is taught in the graduate certificate program, the Master’s degree program also provides a fundamental understanding of best practices in landscape conservation and sustainability, adapted to the small scale landscape, at the neighborhood level.
