dctrimble Thanks, what is the size for the shoe moulding? I am trying to explain to my contractor this detail - it seems to be about 1/2 inch tall and 1/4 inch thick? Is that close? Thanks again, very nice!

Paul Hofmann Carpentry @dctrimble - Pretty much all of our Shoe Moulding (including this one) is 1/4" thick x 3/4" tall. Not only is it a decorative element, it serves a practical purpose too. By using a shoe moulding, we can hide any gaps between the finished floors and the baseboard. We typically install the baseboards BEFORE the finished floors are installed, which allows our painters (or wood finishers in this case) to spray all of the trim work at once. There is usually an area on site where the painters can set up all of the shoe moulding before it's installed and spray that too. Then, once the finished floors are down, one carpenter can easily finish up the shoe moulding on their own with a micro pinner, and having only one person working on the finished floor like this saves on time protecting the floor and minimizes the risk of damage. Hope this helps!
