Hi Anjelica, what a great find! If you like dramatic and eclectic, try adding a pop of color with the sofa fabric and a high gloss or metallic finish on the coffee table. You could also add a wall covering or fresh paint color to tie the room together.

nice find. I would suggest chalk paint in black and then rubbing some of the paint off in areas to show the detail.

Thanks for your question! The stone is supplied through one of our favorite vendors that works with designers directly.

Thanks for your question. It is Spalding Gray (SW 6074) by Sherwin Williams.

If you don't plan on changing the stone, then I suggest keeping with the earthy-rustic tone that the stone fireplace has set. Consider making the mantle more substantial in size and scale, and adding vintage accessories and a fresh mirror and/or vibrant flowers to bring light and life to the space. Best of luck!

would depend on the colors in your room and whether it gets lots or little sun light. I'd start with basic colors in the light brown to cream range and add color. What style of furniture do you have - wood, upholstered, contemporary, etc.

Try adding a colorful bench along the left wall with the folded chairs. Incorporate artwork and lighting to bring life and color into the nook. Here's an image for reference:

Add a door- perfect storage for folding chairs, holiday decor, etc. If you have small kids or grand kids, it could also be turned into a playhouse with little furniture and fanciful paint. Fun!

BM colors Bird's Egg 2051-60 or Yarmouth Blue HC150 are fresh cool blue colors that would offset the warm wood tones nicely.

Love the woodwork! Sherwin-Williams has historic color palettes. Here is the Arts and Crafts Period brochure (a little later than 1883 but could work): http://www.sherwin-williams.com/wcm/idc/groups/public/@swpublic/@sherwin-williams/@content/documents/webcontent/mdaw/mda5/~edisp/sw-pdf-int-arts.pdf

Cooler tones and ample lighting are two ways to make a space feel larger. Furniture pieces with slim legs and details that are lifted off of the floor a few more inches, give an airy, spacious look. You might also consider incorporating reflective surfaces such as a mirror to catch light, or a polished lighting fixture to draw the eye upward. Hope this helps--good luck!

Paint the ceiling the same color as the walls. Get rid of the wall sconces which draw attention to the ceiling height.

you need a lower long console for the tv, move those tall speakers more left and right, say tucked by that chair. turn those wall sconces into picture lights hang long narrow pics there, and lower the tv.

I would suggest a white vanity to go with the cool toned floor tile and grey/blue walls. Since your bathroom is relatively small, using lighter and cooler colors will make the space look larger. Best of luck with your remodel!

Feel free to check out this master bath remodel we did for reference.

Everyone is doing gray right now it's very cookie cutter. If you go with the yellow, test colors thoroughly as yellows can be hard to get the right shade

@laurakdesigns I absolutely agree - yellows are so hard to get the right shade, so I probably won't go with it for that reason alone

We love decor that incorporates over scaled natural elements. Just like in our Hollywood Regency Residence-- the tall organic branches emphasize the ceiling height and add visual texture.

I prefer any items that add the beauty to our home decor. I can suggest those items as any art piece, dolls, Japanese folding fans, plastic flowers, garlands, a decorative candle lantern etc. and this shop is especially for gift articles and home decor accessories. See http://www.justartifacts.net/

Hi Kelly, there are specific types of wall coverings that can be used in bathrooms. We suggest a wall tile or paint for easy clean up and longevity.

I'd go with paint. While tile can certainly look really nice, paint is much easier to change if you want a new look every few years.

I would recommend painting the treads in a black laquer and the railing and spindles in metallic gold.

thank you for your comments. so far I'm thinking about painting the outsides of the stair treads gloss black and keeping the worn centre tread original but covering/protecting with soft zebra runner (in hallway also) or carpet tread on steps. I liked the idea of painting the plinth blocks red (although you just said not to overdo the red) and then theres the balisters .....black or white...still not sure....but where do i get that zebra runner...is it going to cost a fortune to have it made for the treads? and what about the kickplate ... if i go with white balisters , then i guess it should be white , but if i go with black .. thats a lot of black.

I think that if you are keeping the red railing you need to repeat the red again on the staircase, It needs to have something to relate to on the staircase itself. Artwork and accessories can be added for touches of the accent red. The red on the plinth blocks will do that in a small degree as not to overpower the red accent that you've started.
