Usually outdoor brick needs to be left alone, that's what is was designed to do; eliminate maintenance. Indoors, go for it. Whatever your space needs

If you would like to attach a picture of all of your finishes grouped together - I would be happy to advise further. If you are using Mid Continent cabinetry you can choose any white from a Benjamin Moore fan deck. This kitchen is Mid Continent cabinetry - we love the product line!

Hello Leeanne,

The hardwood you have chosen is a beautiful deep and vibrant tone, so we suggest a creamy cabinet color for contrast and brightness against the floor and counter tops. The skylight above the island is a fantastic feature which could be accented by chrome and glass pendants and light leather upholstered seating. A mosaic glass tile backsplash, fresh hardware, and a coordinating earth-toned paint color would tie the space together.

Take a look at our Vibrant Northcenter Home design for inspiration. Best of luck!

You're welcome! The light-well does pose a small issue with lighting placement, and it is hard to tell from the photos, but I suggest either using the existing hole where the recessed lighting is, and, with a chandelier chain, you can adjust the placement of the hanging fixture in the small ceiling space next to the skylight, centering it above the island.

I also agree that you could put pendant lighting that coordinates with the chandelier (doesn't have to match exactly, just not compete) above the half wall/sink area.

Whether you choose to do a chandelier, pendant lights, or both, fresh lighting will bring special charm to your kitchen.

Let us know if you have any further questions Leeanne!

Cabinets don't look worn or out dated. I wouldn't bother painting. New hardware, barstools, maybe backsplash and accessories.

What a gorgeous home! The wall that is opposite your front door (see attached photo) lends itself to a beautiful hall stand. You can organize, have extra storage and make a cozy nook out of that space. Even better, having a hall stand with a mirror will reflect the light from the window, opening up the foyer beautifully. You can either purchase a furniture piece, or have one custom made for that wall. Good luck!

Think the chairs should have some colorful pattered fabric on it to fill the space and make a statement. Between all the spindals on the stairs, the chair and table, way too many legs.

Can you try it with the console from your office under the painting instead if the little table? That would eliminate some legs and look a little more substantial.

Hello Ditte,

The angled wall/ceiling can be difficult to work with, but is also an design opportunity! Try painting the walls a vibrant color to highlight the unique angles. If you can, invest in some statement furniture pieces like an interactive slide bed, or timeless side tables and chests with fun details that the child can grow with. You could also flank the shorter walls with built-in storage for toys and books.

Check out our Hollywood Regency's Child's Bedroom for inspiration. Best of luck!

It looks to me as if one side should be her dedicated sleeping and dressing area and the other side her play area. What would be great would be to attach a hammock to the sloped ceiling and place her toys there so she can easily see them.

Definitely painting the walls will be great. Also a map of the world or huge mural would be fun

We suggest a light cool paint color that will help reflect light and make the room seem larger. Keep architectural details such as the fireplace trim and moulding a fresh or creamy white. Try adding a mirror above the fireplace and other specular materials such as a glass top coffee table, vases, or a chandelier that reflect even more light.

Don't be afraid to mix and match patterns, textures, and colors when it comes to fabric-- small details can go a long way. Take a look at our Vibrant Northcenter Home's living room for inspiration. Best of luck!

The room is on the east side of the house. We really don't use the room very much at all....I would say it has more of a formal mood. I have some antique tables, formal dining room table in the opposite nook, and a china cabinet. The room is small, so I don't want to go too large with a big sofa....maybe a love seat? I have a nice burgundy wing back chair for the room as well.

I love it the way it is. it just needs furnishings and accessories. I think it's impossible to
judge the color of walls when there is nothing else in the room

Hello!

I love the vintage charm the existing light fixtures bring to the space. If you are looking to create a sleek and sultry dining room, try deepening the paint color with a deep taupe-- this will make the lighting fixtures stand out and sparkle. You might also want to find furniture in a similar tone, like a light walnut set with accent head chairs and a deep indigo or royal blue upholstery. A rectangular rug with light detailing would tie the space together and define the room.

Check out our Hollywood Regency dining room for inspiration.

Best of luck!

Chandeliers are now being used with so many different types of furniture and in all kinds of rooms. Given that, you really don't have to go too formal, especially with it open to the kitchen. Not sure if you have furniture or if purchasing? If purchasing, go with darker color of wood that works with your kitchen and be sure to have some really modern chairs that are a bit different. I would paint out all the molding to the same color as the walls. Find a beautiful rug with colors that also match your living room colors. Select the paint color after the rug is purchased and it should be in the same intensity as the other rooms.

Hello Mike,

The brick wall with two-way fireplace is such a unique feature, we recommend highlighting that area as a focal point in the kitchen. To keep with a modern minimalist design, painting the brick in a warm grey tone would be a great way to update and brighten the space, and would coordinate perfectly with grey quartz counter tops and your current white cabinetry.

Take a look at this photo for inspiration...

Best of luck!

Since the cabinets are white and the wood floors are a light wood, I would consider painting the brick a charcoal grey. This will help give that modern look you are looking for and bring everything together.

I like the whitewashed brick suggested by Leanne. I would do it to all the brick in the house. This is a minor detail, but should be addressed as well: the cubby in the brick on the kitchen side needs to be reworked. I would trim it out with wood that matches the mantel, or remove the trim altogether, if possible.
