I have that typical small laundry/mudroom combination between the kitchen and garage. Like other commenters above I thought about having the laundry component nearer to the bedroom, but have reconsidered. One benefit of the location away from the bedrooms is that if I'm doing laundry in the evening or early before everyone is up the noise is not bothering anyone trying to sleep. This would be a consideration for families with babies as well, 'cause when the washer hits the spin cycle it can be loud.

onthefritz3 point exactly! The occasional dish towel from the kitchen is about the only laundry generated downstairs! I have three kids so I do a lot of laundry and I can't stand lugging it up and down the stairs every single day! Fortunately, they are getting old enough to lug most of it back up the stairs once it's clean. I'll probably catch some flack for this but until there are more women architects, we will continue to see homes where the laundry room is the last priority in the floor plan....just the fact that in most households it's the women doing the laundry. I said most, not all!

It looks like they moved the photos around, so to specify, it is the one with the far out wallpaper that I don't care for. It's just not something I would want to look at every day.

I love the 7th pic. It's like having a white couch! With a little paint and new towels you can change the look!
