As interesting as this was I would like to see an ideabook about the parts of the sofa you can't see. I don't need to know the style names of the arms, backs, etc to know whether or not I like the looks of it.

To me, this would get old very quickly - and yes, to me it cheapens it, but I don't want to hurt the owner's feelings - to each her own! It seems like an ok idea for the beach or lake. I'm not really into "themes" such as nautical, etc. - I think they get tiring...but lots of people like this type of thing. I also absolutely hate (sorry everyone) all these signs people now put up in there houses - things like "Simple" or "Fresh" in the kitchen or "Keep Calm and Carry On" in the family room....I really hope this trend passes by fast. I remember when I first saw it a few years ago and thought, "this will go away fast" - and it hasn't yet. I always feel like "use ropes" or "use buttons" or all these signs are all about someone who wants us to buy all this stuff...get tired of it...and then buy something else in 5 years. Maybe that shows my age!:)

Angie, I agree. I think some of these rope elements might look really nice in a beach home with a nautical theme. But if the owner is happy with their room, that's all that matters.

I didn't want to hurt anyone's feeling either, which is why I didn't say which photos I didn't like. I actually found some of these interesting.

I see signs at spas and such, and I don't mind that. I don't understand people painting words on their walls, or hanging signs. I don't know anyone that does this, but I have seen them in magazines, HGTV, and online.

I still really love looking at other peoples' decorating style. I'm sure to a lot of people, my home would be quite boring.

Our local school holds an annual kids flea market in the gym. When my kids were little I would buy them a table each ($5) and they would go through their toys and decide what they no longer wanted and sell them. Because they took good care of their toys they often sold out before the end of the day. Out of their earnings they would pay me back for the table and they got to keep the rest. It made it much easier for them to let go of things and taught them some good skills - arranging the items, figuring out how much to charge, when to discount the non-selling items, making change, etc. Good times.

Thanks for all the great ideas. My clutter is visual, namely paper. I invested in the Neat Desk and portable Neat Receipts scanner and firmly committed to digitizing my life (with Cloud back up). One way to prevent clutter is to avoid bringing it into the house. Therefore, I dump junk mail in the recycling bin outside as soon as I get my mail. And, I take the portable scanner with me on trips (or use the mobile app), scan or snap brochures, receipts, etc. instead of bringing the paper home. I also scan articles, rather than keep a pile of magazines in the house. A continual work in progress.
