Kitt Haman Design I would suggest getting a long landscape mirror that goes almost the entire length of the mantle 8" all the way around of wall space , the frame should not be any wider than the one you already have. . Hang the mirror on the wall and then layer and lean some colorful artwork on the mantle in front of the mirror - It could be 3 pieces about the size of your exsisting mirror. This will add the much needed depth to the room . And consider placing 2 large tall urns on either side of the hearth. Lighting is much needed too! Hope this helps!

judyg I'd paint the body of the house and the foundation the same, either BM Manchester Tan or Elmira white with Simply White Trim.
I would then get more of the window grilles you have in the windows at the front door and add them to the three windows on the side. Call attention to them, as that is your "front" by painting the mullions BM mountain ridge (very dark) and the front door Vintage Charm.
I would try going without the shutters and see how you like it. I find them confusing as to where the front door is.
