Business Description
Kurtz + Atkins Design specializes in reclaimed and live edge wood furniture and home goods. All Kurtz +Atkins products are crafted in Montgomery County, Maryland using hand-selected, sustainable woods. Their work is inspired by the history of locally-sourced materials. Most of the duo’s lumber comes from Washington DC buildings that are being renovated or torn down. Some of this wood has been around for 150 years, and Jodi and Bryan hope to create furniture that stays around for at least 150 more! Whether they are building custom farm tables or crafting interiors for historic homes, Kurtz + Atkins Design follows a simple philosophy – to create unique pieces that celebrate the past with a modern eye.

Our slider (barn) doors are between the entry hall and the living room, and we pull them at night so that the living room is very private from the street or driveway which is nice otherwise we would have to have curtains on the entry hall windows. And another separating the walk-in closet from the rest of the master suite so that we can assure privacy for dressing when the grandkids are racing around the house. We have another pair that separates my husbands study from a neighbors view--very effective for privacy--and I think they look nice and work well where hinged doors would obstruct or be awkward and draperies just don't suit my house design.
