You guys are going to laugh, but the best way I have found to keep my floors streak-free and paw-print-free is with a bath towel, my own 2 feet, and a squirt bottle of plain water (cleaners tend to leave streak marks, so I avoid them). I literally spray a little water on the floor, and wipe it clean with the towel that is under my feet. Hubby laughs at me buffing the floor with my feet, but this is so easy to do every couple of days. I use steam to kill germs, again only using plain water in the steamer.

I also have a flat buffer (similar to a mop) that I toss a microfiber rag under, but I am using it mostly for dry dusting now -- it is especially good to get under the beds and under furniture. I can keep changing out the rags as they fill up with dust.

We had laminate flooring in our previous house, along with 2 dogs and 2 cats. Sad to say, it did not hold up well at all - in less than a year, I could see scratches, etc., from little paws and claws. Also, unless I was johnny-on-the-spot to get up any kind of damp "accident," the laminate board warped. The salesman who talked us into laminate also told us replacing a damaged board would be easy. Two words: he lied.

Never again will we purposely install laminate. I'd rather just wait and save up the money for real wood, or go with anything --ANYTHING-- other than laminate.
