These are 13" pendants. This island is 8'3" x 5.' They come in an 11" size as well and three 11" pendants would like nice given the depth of your island is a little smaller.

There is no base molding in this bathroom, just tiled to the floor. The chair rail is ceramic as well. There are some tile manufacturers that also offer a ceramic base molding. It adds a nice touch in a more formal bathroom however, we didn’t feel that this bathroom needed it.

These are 10’ ceilings. You can absolutely do the same scheme for 8’ ceilings. Just switch up the finishes, for example eggshell walls, semi gloss trim, flat ceiling.

Miniwax has some great stain options. If you want a darker color for warmth, their Dark Walnut is gorgeous! However, if you are worried about dust showing (which it will with that dark color) then I would consider Provincial - it's a few shades lighter but still very warm. If you like a little red in your wood tones, their Red Oak or Red Chestnut are pretty as well. Keep in mind the stain colors do change depending on the wood species, so you may want to do a test piece before committing to the entire floor.

For an island 5' deep, the 16.5" pendant is probably a better option. There's plenty of depth there that it won't feel crowded when you stand at it. I would go with 3 lights across, that should fill the space nicely.

What are your thoughts on the Benson vs. the Harmon pendants for 8ft ceilings? I like the Benson, but I'm afraid the shade/casing part will look huge with a stubby little rod! Do you think that will be the case? I will most likely need the 13" Thanks!

It depends on the overall mass and shape of the light as well as your ceiling height. You maybe able to use 3 of the 12” but I would stay with just 2 of the 16”

A honed finish is less durable than a polished finish – however, it is still sealed. One does have to be more “cautious” with a honed product, but the things that can harm it, can harm any porous material (natural material) – i.e. acidic, heat, etc… A granite/stone fabricator could speak to you in detail about the particular material and finish you’re considering – and the maintenance associated with it.

We did different colors in some of the spaces to add variety and interest. However, we kept in mind that we wanted it to feel cohesive and flow well. In some rooms we want to accent/highlight different things that benefit from changing from a more neutral color that goes in the main spaces. Additionally, color theory teaches us a lot about what types of colors work best in certain rooms (whether it needs to reflect well on one’s complexion, or it is a color that will brighten up a dreary setting). Still, some of our clients wish to do the same color throughout. Either can work – it just comes down to personal preference and the goals of the project.
