@sailnmuffin...your acid staining job is exquisite! As a former Santa Fe resident, I find it a highly appropriate look for the region...good job!

Aww, thank you, @Dana Veach - that's a nice thing to say. BTW, I took that pic after the floor was stained, cleaned & scrubbed, but it was "raw"; i.e., not yet sealed or finished. It was fun though, playing with the acid colors & the cracks!

When we retired our dream was to move by my parents and get a lakefront home. Our realtor took us to some of the worst dumps I have ever been in! We went for a drive and found our home with over 400 ft of Lakefront, 1.78 acres and almost 3,000 square feet, a pool, and a boat dock! Best of all it was less than a mile from my parents.
Unfortunately, the inspector was a teetotal idiot! He found a couple of small electrical issues and that is it. The pool was in the contract to be in working order. It leaked, the pump was old and the liner was shot. The water pressure was nil, the sewer pipes were cracked and root riddled. I almost got electrocuted in my kitchen because the wiring was screwed up. Most of my brand new appliances conked out and my stove blew up! There was no insulation anywhere.
Long story short, we ended up replacing everything in this house but the walls! We now love it but it was "The money pit" on steroids for the first few years. Buyer Beware!

Dutcy79, I had a friend growing up in Idaho who had something similar in her yard. I'd forgotten about it. Thanks for the memory!

Question safety even with safety latch. It's so long a little one could curl up for a nap in the back corner and someone would never know it.
