merrigay Loved these. Does anyone know or have a guess as to the specific colors used on the southwest wall in #11? I'd love to do something similar on my front door.

Sheila Schmitz Merrigay, click on that picture, you'll see a tag for one of those colors; then you can click on the tag for the info!

grumble Grumble. Being from Boston and Quincy mass. WE dream in red white and Blue. I think a lot of people gave their lives for our flag and what it stands for. My wife and I put up a 35 foot flagpole yesterday in Florida. I love this country, fly your flags. Great article

Sara Bates Hi, there! The owners actually hand-mixed this paint themselves, so it is their own custom blend. A color that's quite similar that you might like is Fountain Spout by Behr. http://www.homedepot.com/p/BEHR-Premium-Plus-Ultra-8-oz-520C-2-Fountain-Spout-Interior-Exterior-Paint-Sample-520C-2U/202182012#.UZt3HS3D8dU

Victoria Lane Thanks Sara! I'll check it out. We are renovating an old farm house, which I have asked for help on in the discussion tab. The cabinets will be white and I am looking for either a soft blue or light grey for the walls.
Sara Bates Very nice. You should also check out Restoration Hardware's line of paints. There are some very nice grey and blue tones in their fan deck.

Sara Bates This paint was actually hand-mixed by the owners. Try Restoration Hardware's Charcoal for a similar color.

Sara Bates Hi, there! I'm not sure where the owners purchased their liquid soaps, but the faucet is from Ikea and similar to this item: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40113383/

Sara Bates Total coincidence. Found the soaps today while shopping at target!

Sara Bates Hi, there! The owners indicated to me that the counters are not stained, and simply have some oil and a few years of use on them! Currently, Ikea offers oak and birch butcher block countertops.
Sara Bates The owners indicate that these are in fact walnut countertops as it says in the article. Perhaps Ikea does not offer them now or does not have them listed online.

Sara Bates You could remove the wall and install a small island in its place to unite the two spaces. See the attached photo.

Sara Bates The owners found these Italian porcelain sinks online. They are similar to these carried by Wayfair: Bissonnet-Jazz-40-Porcelain-Bathroom-Sink-with-Overflow-in-White-28050-BIY1155

Sara Bates Tiles are ceramic 12x24 tiles from Avalon Carpet and Flooring. The tiles are laid in a chevron pattern for this interesting effect.

Sara Bates Hi, there! The owners typically use vintage bedding mixed with pieces from HomeGoods and Target for the custom look on their beds. The bedding here is most likely a mix of the three!

Sara Bates Hi, there! The owners did make this fixture by themselves using reclaimed wood. Typically they don't find lighting that they love so they just make it themselves!

marsia Wow! So inventive and I love anything where it looks fantastic and saves lots of money (who doesn't, huh?) I am going to try the wax paper stencil technique - probably put a tree of life with coat hooks at the ends of the branches for my kid's loft. Thanks for the wonderful ideas and for letting us see your wonderful house!

feiheli I think what I like most about this house is that every color and design decision was made by the owners, not someone who was paid to make it beautiful for them. I'm not against hiring professionals - being an interior decorator is actually one of my dream jobs - but it's nice to see people who aren't afraid to try things out on their own. And look at the amazing result!

Sara Bates Thanks feiheli! Interior design is one of my passions, so we are always willing to try things out in our own home. If you want to see the work I've been doing on my new home, check out my blog at www.embracemyspace.com
