Totally agree that a bedroom doesn't have to be large. I really prefer a small, intimate room - it feels much cozier than those gargantuan master bedrooms complete with sofas, TV, kitchenette, fireplace and whatnot.

My #1 requirement, beside a firm bed with high quality bedding, are large operable windows, because I need lots of fresh air and I love to watch the sun rise, the squirrels playing in the trees and listen to the birds in the morning.

The rug does - it's actually plastic! But fabric on the chairs needs to be taken off the frames during bad weather. The sun doesn't seem to hurt them though.

My husband and I joke that we have a problem when it comes to glassware, but we do enjoy collecting interesting glasses. (At one point we counted 28 martini glasses alone!) I've attached a photo of our most recent find - beer glasses that we picked up this past weekend at the Cleveland Flea. Also, here's a photo of some of our other favorites, including a couple beer glasses that were my husband's father's. As much as we enjoy looking at them, we enjoy using them even more!

Love reupholstered pieces. I'm getting so many ideas and I wished I had more to do this. Found this Louise XV inspired chair for $50 ( not that cheap but it's hard getting chair with good bones in Malaysia) and begin to sand off the peeling white paint and used liquid gold leaf for the frame. Later I got them to be reupholstered by my local upholsterer for $50 plus fabric. I purposely chosed a different fabric for the back to give it some modern twist.

Your suggestion for displaying the mannequin legs reminded me of a lawyer I knew years ago. He bought a very old house and restored it for his law firm, not surprising since his lovely home had originally been a one-room schoolhouse. He loved the character of older places. Anyway, in his private office there was a closet in which he kept a nude mannequin. Depending on who his visitor was, he'd leave the closet door open just enough to startle his visitor. He was quite a character and would have been pleased to know that design later became my career.

Amazing. I'm so down and out right now and a lot of it has to do with the overwhelming amount of stuff going on in my brain that is a cause and/or result of researching, analyzing, attempting to perfect, keeping in touch with everyone, second-guessing a wall color, etc. I am going to print this out, highlight each tip, and stick it to my mirror and back of my front door. Thanks again !!
