Sarah Greenman The home owners don't really know what the cost was because the architect / builder was a friend who did much of the work for the cost of materials. They also repurposed and upcycled many of the materials from the builder's other paid jobs where there was left-over stuff. Sorry that I don't have a number for you. Thanks for your question!

AV Architects + Builders Love the images!! Great way to create indoor/outdoor flow!!

tammytimamy I like the idea and the look, but in my opinion, having a see-through glass splash back behind the cooker hob is a bit mad - lovely splatters of tomato based sauces and grease come to mind. Glass is so much harder to clean if you expect to look through it as well (which is why windows are a complete pain to clean). I have a window above the sink area, and it gets splashed all the time and looks so dirty, no matter how much I clean it. And that's just with water splashes!

zemonsta11 I also saw this home on a tour and was really impressed that they didn't build a cookie cutter McMansion like those that have taken over in Lakewood (about 4 miles away on the other side of the lake). It's a new build that sits in well with the neighborhood.

Sarah Greenman And yes, it curves. Here is another photo:
houscom Thank you Sarah, and for locating this second photo too - most appreciated. The sofa is very curvy! We have a room that has a corner cut off and so I have in mind eventually getting a sofa that curves or has a slight angle to it. Actually our room is very similar to the room shown here, it opens off the main hallway, its referred to as an "Open Study" but we use it another area to sit in, open to all, adjacent the kitchen - it's a bit of an odd space to furnish. Both your photos are very inspiring, I like how its set up as the media area in this home. Thanks again.

Sarah Greenman The architect and builder is James Curvan (www.jamescurvan.com). It is located in Dallas, Texas. The cost is not entirely known because the architect was a friend of the family who did it over a period of many years, slowly adding on. They also used lots of reclaimed materials and reused old wood. James Curvan's smaller play homes, which can be seen on his website, are all individually priced but run around two to three thousand dollars.

Sarah Greenman courtney3000 - the home has three bedrooms and the office is tucked in a small ante-room just off the dining room - not big enough to be considered a bedroom. But i suppose the family could use it as a bedroom, if they wished. But there is no closet and the windows, which are floor to ceiling, face the street. So I guess it would have been more accurate for me to put 3.5 bedrooms.
