Michelle Sasveld has 20+ years of design experience, from residential and corporate interior design in New York, Washington D.C. and Chicago, to museum exhibit design at the Smithsonian Institution in D.C. Michelle trained at B Five Studio in New York which is nominated as one of the design firms on Elle Decor Magazine’s A-List, a salute to top talents in the United States -- Designers who continue to excite, inspire, and intrigue us. Her residential projects include the Estee Lauder family estate in Palm Beach, the forty-one acre river front Garthright estate in Virginia, and numerous homes in the Chicagoland. Michelle’s corporate experience includes seven years of in-house interior design and project management at a Chicago based Fortune 500 company. Michelle earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design in Richmond, VA and studied painting in Aix-en-Provence, France. Michelle is one of the most professional designers I've worked with. She helped me jumpstart a beautifully designed furniture plan for my daughter's room. She masterfully listened to mine and my daughters wishes, and meshed them perfectly with her ideas which helped me to stay focused on specific key pieces. Her eye for design is spot on and she knows how to maximize the space for optimal function while maintaining a beautiful clean aesthetic. The room came out beautiful and we could not be happier!

I was so very lucky to have met Michelle! My husband and I had just bought a new home and I was looking for furniture for the living room and dining room. I knew the "feeling" I was looking for and I even had some pictures of things I liked. After speaking to Michelle and showing her some pictures, she totally understood what I was looking for and she was able to skillfully guide me in decorating my new home. Michelle came out to the house and brought samples of fabrics and wood finishes. It was terrific to see the fabrics in the rooms and so helpful for me to imagine the pieces as they would be. She helped me with wall paint colors too! I even sent her pictures of the floor stains and I so welcomed her easy going input. She was not pushy at all and listened to what I liked. I truly feel that we worked together to get exactly what I wanted! My living room and dining rooms are beautiful and I am so happy and grateful to have met Michelle. She is a wonderful interior designer and I truly recommend having her help you with your home!

Michelle helped us select furniture and accessories for our living room, breakfast area, and master bedroom. We met her as we were planning to move into a house from a condo. She helped us work in our own art and other pieces and complement the style of our new home. Although we were on a tight timeframe, Michelle made a thoughtful plan and gave us several options. She met with us in person, exchanged emails, and spoke on the phone. We were thrilled with the results. The final result exceeds our expectations. She helped us make our new home feel like it was made for us.

Michelle is wonderful at her job! She was able to give us many ideas within our budget and left our house looking better than when she arrived. Within days, she was emailing us with possible lighting possibilities and home accents. She is a treasure in the interior design world.

Michelle is wonderful to work with, she is very professional while still being very warm. She listened to our needs and offered many suggestions for things we could implement immediately by just rearranging furniture. Because we are working within a budget, she created a long range plan with items to accomplish first and what tasks/purchases could wait. She really took what appeared to be an overwhelming task and made it into a very enjoyable process. She has a wonderful eye for design and I look forward to working with her again as we progress through our plan.

Michelle Sasveld advised me on window treatments, placement of furniture, and incremental improvements that could beautify our home. I had reached a state of decor inertia and needed a fresh set of eyes to look at my space. She is punctual, courteous, and has a great eye for spatial orientation. She is also extremely mindful of the client's budget and helps prioritize which investments to the interior will have greater impact. I recommend her services without reservation.

After seeing Michelle Sasveld's own living room at her house, I knew she would be the right person to help me transform my living room. I loved her ability to make a space feel bright and bigger but functional and cozy at the same time. My children and I are musicians, and I want to create a traditional living room in my home that doubles as a music studio/chamber music performance room. Michelle is helping me to design a space with that dual-functionality that can easily be converted back and forth. Her talents range from simply moving my existing furniture around the room (as a first step!) to producing detailed CAD drawings and budget sheets for my plan to introducing me to colors and designs that I never knew I loved until she showed them to me. Michelle listens so closely to my opinions on styles and colors and makes it a huge priority of hers to reflect and enhance my ideas. This is still a work in progress. I am happy to update this review with pictures, etc. as the room continues.

Working with Michelle on our bathroom was a wonderful experience. She came in and made order out of chaos. She had so many great ideas and helped us make something ordinary extraordinary. I loved that she gave us "homework" that helped us stick to our budget and keep us focused. She is talented, professional and a joy to work with.
