We have several pieces of teakwood patio furniture that are in a covered patio area. It still is exposed to some sunlight and the elements. We recently wanted to freshen up our furniture ( it was the light teak color) we worked for days, and I do mean days, and days, prepping, sanding, cleaning, then lightly sanding again, before applying the product. The finish that was highly recommended to us is a marine teak oil. This "completely" changed the color to almost a redwood finish.. We thought it would lighten as it dried as it was advertised as a transparent finish. I am trying to get used to this color, and will learn to love it...IF it holds up well. My question is, have we ruined our furniture by using an oil based product? How hard would it be to strip it back down (if it doesn't hold up well to the elements) and restore it back to the lighter teak? It has been so very confusing about the RIGHT way to care for teak... I did my research but now fear... Maybe this was not the right choice. There seem to be so many options.... Teak lovers... Please advise!! Thank you!
