Structures Building Company photo is featured in an ideabook: Outfit a Southern Plantation-Style Home — Paint to Porch Furnishings

paloosha We have two large porches, front and back on our southern home. The front porch has a haint paint ceiling and the back porch is in plain white. There is a huge bug 'collection' difference between the two. The front porch is virtually bug free and after a year of not cleaning we have 2 deserted dirt dobber nest and one spider web. None are touching the ceiling paint. The back porch is a bug war zone. Wasps, dobbers, spiders, you name it are continually building nest everywhere. Summer months are the worst and we have to spray regularly to try and keep them out. Once I get the back porch cleaned up I will be painting the ceiling blue. I used Sherman Williams exteriour paint 'Tidewater' on the front porch. A Very peaceful and relaxing color and it does work!

debluetailfly Thanks skaboom111 and paloosha. Very interesting observations! My porch has a medium green ceiling, same as the walls. Haven't had any problems with bugs, but since I am stripping the paint for a new paint job, I want it a different color. Part of the new trim will be a light grey. I may try one coat of the light grey for the ceiling and if I have any bug problems, just paint over it with blue.
