I opted for mosaic because it can add a wow factor at a reasonable rate (if used sparingly). As basis I used the cheapest available tiles as I had almost no budget, but designed the pattern, assembled it and installed myself. I hid the chimney behind and created some recessed shelf space. Everyone loved is so far.

Meryn1 - I'm not too sure, but if you click on the image they are in, there is the option to 'ask a question' - hopefully they can help :)

Architect - that mosaic pattern looks brilliant!

I loooove hot pink and wear it all the time so when it came to my bedroom it had to be pink! The wall came out a bit dark, there is too much black in the paint mix so will be repainting it with a brighter, hotter pink soon. The rest of the walls are a 'barely there' pink/white so the room stays pretty bright. Now I need new lamps!

As an Australian living in London I wanted a bright tropical duvet cover so when I saw this one I fell in love ... it makes me smile whenever I go into the the room! Bright greens really give the pink zing ans they are opposite on the colour wheel. I like bold bright colours, it helps counter the dull grey light over here.

I wouldn't put it in the kitchen, it's not really a 'food' colour ... I would say orange and red are better for the kitchen.

The only other room that has pink in it is my living room ... again, with contrasting colours to give it zing. I have a lime green linen chair, you can see on the far left which brightens the room. It's quite difficult to get that clear bright pink in the UK, they usually add black to the colour to mute it (as is the sofa) as I suspect it sells better here. So if/when I am home in Sydney or in the US I try and pick up what I can, either in fabrics, linens or clothes as the colours are much clearer and brighter. I'm still trying to decide on an appropriate colour for the walls, something subtle and light but that will complement the furnishings and my artwork. As an artist pink tends to pop up in my work too.
