Depending on our schedules, I do what Wallner Builders does either before I go to bed, or first thing in the morning. I love going around the house and fluffing pillows, making sure all dishes are in the dishwasher, recycling items in the garage container, dirty laundry or decide what needs to be laundered today, etc.
Dusting days usually involve 4-5 rooms so it's consistent on each side of the house, same goes for vacuuming. No pets here, but a husband who is rather oblivious to small details. Love him to pieces though!

I agree with Liz and Lisa., There are just some things which make an immediate difference.
For me - no leaving the house for work in the morning without :
1 ) Making the bed,
2) Unpacking the clean dishes from the dishwasher and putting the morning's dirty dishes in - close the door!
3) Hanging the damp bathroom towels outside or somewhere in the sunshine
4) Cleaning the dog bowls once they finished eating and filling up the water bowls.
5) Straightening the throws and fluffing the pillows on the couches.

OK - so that's why I get up an hour before hubby - but it's worth it. Nothing is more depressing than walking into a kitchen with dirty dishes and a bedroom with an un-made bed, when you return from a long day's work. By doing these simple things I get to spend a bit more quality time with the dogs in the evening before I start cooking and doing the washing! Now I must just get hubby to follow suit! Why is it that ( most ) men can not be bothered by these things!

I make basil lemon drops that are wonderful. I put some basil in a sealed contained with chopped basil to get an infused sugar for the rim of the glass and then muddle some basil with vodka, sugar, and fresh lemon juice in a cocktail shaker. Cheers!

A friend with a good sense of humor gave my parents this. I always thought it was in bad taste, but when we closed down their house, I couldn't part with it! Now it is in my guest bath.

As an avid organic city gardener I enjoyed your article. Maybe I will seriously think adding bee keeping to my list of gardening activities.
