Third Nature Studio is a small San Francisco-based landscape design studio specializing in contemporary and contextual residential projects.

Randi Johnsen and Nicole Kelly, landscape architects with youthful, artistic yet practical eyes, run Third Nature Studio.

Randi received a Masters in Landscape Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley in 2004 where she was given the prestigious American Society of Landscape Architects Honor Award. She has since returned to the University as a visiting lecturer to teach several design studios.

Randi has worked on projects throughout California and the world as an Associate at Meyer + Silberberg Land Architects, and as a consultant for the offices of Walter Hood and Cheryl Barton.

After designing and documenting large-scale public, commercial and institutional projects, Randi discovered that for her, the residential context is one of compelling intimacy and meaning. Third Nature Studio was formed as a result.

Nicole partnered with Randi at Third Nature Studio after a decade of work on notable projects throughout California and the world including the headquarters for Airbnb in San Francisco and the UCLA Wasserman Garden with Richard Meier and Partners.

Nicole earned her Masters at University of California, Berkeley, an Undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture at Cal Poly San Louis Obispo and has worked as an Associate at Meyer + Silberberg Land Architects, Adrienne Wong + Asssociates, TGP, and The Office of Matthew Gaber.

Nicole is a licensed landscape architect with an eye for design, a rich knowledge of plant material and a lifelong love of the California Landscape.
