Hi wondering if your red cedar shingles were stained or treated and have you ever done a standing seam snow belt with something different than copper.

Hello. The cedar shingles are not stained, they are weathered. Some times we will do a snow belt with a painted metal. We like copper though.

After the terrible winter the northeast U.S received, I've heard stories of solar panels succumbing to the weight of the snow and ice and sliding off the roof. Has anyone had any experience with this or anything similar? If so would this be covered by the warranty? Thank you.

I got the sense, in a similar previous thread, that unless you were totally off the grid, solar panels would not provide any electricity to you in the event of a power outage. Some kind of safety issue. Do you guys agree with that? The ideal thing for me would be connection to the grid but freedom from the inconvenience of a blackout. Is that possible? Can you explain PV batteries to me? How much do they cost?
