Stunning is the first word that comes to mind when i see the combined kitchen, dining and living space. It's a beautiful use of natural light. I'm actually glad they kept the furnishings and decorative pieces to a minimum here. It's simple and clean. Also, love the wood frames on the windows!

VERY nice home! Revitalizing inner city properties is the greenest form of development. Couple that with an age in place plan like this (master bedroom on the main, with future care giver accommodation attached) and you have a "home" in the truest sense. Great work!

I am not sure I like the extent to which they remodeled,...however, there are a lot of details here that really make sense and that I am going to file in my memory banks for future use. I particularly like the outside shower...and the idea of the washer and dryer being accessed from outside. This could solve a lot of problems for small house refurbishments.

Gorgeous remodel! Very homey and airy.

I am amazed that people think it is so inconvenient to do laundry from an outdoor location. I carry mine to the detached garage and never thought twice about it. I was wondering why our contractor made such a fuss about having the laundry closer. I guess most people haven't ever been poor enough to have to lug their clothes to the launder mat. I am very grateful for my outdoor access laundry.

Also if you look at the landscaping map, it shows a couple of tent campsites. It would be nice to have an outdoor washer/dryer for the guests who are tenting on the site. Great idea to make campsites for guests!

Taking a natural method to getting stains out is always a nice alternative for sensitive surfaces and skin. You really have to just be aware of the material and what it requires to be cleaned. We finished an all white kitchen in a NYC pre-war apartment and had to be aware of this possibility. Nevertheless, the owners wanted an all white kitchen and are managing just fine!

The goal to bring the Connecticut feel to California was certainly achieved here! The steel-framed windows and doors are a great contemporary yet barn-like feel. They also allow wonderful use of natural light and open air in the kitchen/dining/living areas. It really is a gorgeous house.

Jungle creatures in blue and taupe is adorable. Also love the idea of decals to make a room more playful without necessarily filling the entire space with shapes. The mural idea from a children's book is great too. Although this could become easily "babyish" quickly to some, i think a classic book could give the room a vintage feel for a long time.

You either have to have plenty of money or not change your tastes very often in order to have striped sofas. I used to have a couple of striped loveseats and loved them. Unfortunately, it was a long, long time before I was able to replace them, long after I got tired of them.
