Properly building a bathroom with wood flooring will be more of an investment to do right to avoid moisture damage as much as possible. It is beautiful, and with the newer finishes and under-floor radiant heating options they can be quite nice. Talk to your design/build professional about your options, moisture control options, and consider other architectural features of the room and what type of use it will get. Just knowing how the space will fall together might help you realize if it is for you.

When installed over floor heating systems, it is best to use an engineered construction floor for added stability. Yes, Shabana, we can make this floor for you in engineered Brazilian Cherry (jatoba).

Large format porcelain tiles.
Look at marazzi 24"x48" tiles. I have them in my kitchen with 1/16" grout spacing.

Has a beautiful concrete look. I also did in floor heating with these tiles. Feels warm and cozy for such hard tile.

That size of tiles requires a perfectly level an smooth surface I would go with colored concrete with the infloor heating and have fun with the kitchen design. Great space to work with, how modern do you want to go?

The Vista is small and beautifully proportioned. Also can use either to store and or hang towels. Definitely one I will be considering for our new home.

We've installed floor heating in our bathroom, but with water. Invest in some solar panels too and you'll love it. Lukewarm tiles are very nice, even if the rest of the space is chilly.

An issue that is surfacing more & more with carpeting is allergies, so more are deciding on wood or tile floors.

If your husband is concerned with warmth for the kids, you can always install under floor heating coils.

We recently turned our attached 2 car garage into studio space, added a laundry, powder room, storage closets and a mud room, and then a 4 car, two story garage onto that. Because it was an extension from the rest of the house, we put in radiant heat. Best decision ever! The floors are toasty warm in winter (WI winters are cold!), and any flooring can be added on top of the newly poured concrete base.
