Woodland Custom Beam Company

Woodland Beam is a unique custom beam company that provides REAL WOOD beams. Woodland Beam builds Box Beams that are far lighter than normal beams and can be added to virtually any structure. woodland beam are hollow which means they are lighter and much easier to handle. While many box beams are machine made or mold poured from artificial materials, our box beams are made from quality woods and handcrafted. Our beams can be custom made to any size, and every order is one-of-a-kind with a “hands on” personal touch.
Woodland Beam was created by Mike Capuzzo and Jon Sefcik, master carpenters of the southwest. After doing numerous installs of traditional wood beams which twist and crack, they created the Woodland Beam. The Woodland Beam has now taken over our typical install for conventional type beams because of its longevity and appeal to maintain the same look to last forever.

Woodland Custom Beam Company I think your idea of adding beams would look good, my company does custom beams http://woodlandbeams.com but I also feel that the other comenters have a much easier (and possibly more inexpensive) way of bringing out the potential of your home. studio10001 brought up a good point about a darker ceiling having a similar effect as beams.

DMH DESIGN Susan, is your dining space just that adjacent to the kitdhen? Banquettes can be nice for informal dining, but limiting in terms of serving larger groups. These photos don't appear to correlate to the plan--I dont see a hallway on the plan...please advise.

susan cimino breines Actually, our house is not built yet. This a model of house we will build. We are putting a hall closet behind front door in entry way. We are adding a pantry unit next to closet for all food. I guess that is the entry way..not actually a hallway. There is a half bath along that wall, then a door, then stairs. This is all on north wall to the right. Kitchen and banquette are on south side with 3 windows. We are considering a custom trey ceiling over banquette area. Our kitchen is also in a u shape but there is a bar between kitchen and "dining" area. It will feel more open. We are also adding a sun room as opposed to a garage toward back of house on south side. The color paint in photo is not my color...I tend toward raspberry or greyish blue- greens....again, not sure what will work in this place...I don't like beige. Your help is great, love that photo with the beams. What color are the cabinets?

Woodland Custom Beam Company My company Woodland Beams does custom beams http://woodlandbeams.com and just my two cents but I wouldn't paint the beams, they look great! If anything, I think painting the walls a different color or adding a stripe of darker color (maybe to match the beams) would look nice.

line5a So I've made some VERY minor adjustments.
-Removed the end table closest to the tv.
-Relocated the lamp that was on that table to the end of the room (the console is temporary!)
-Placed a wingback chair from another room next to the fireplace
-Added a floor lamp (what side of the chair do I put the floor lamp!?!?)
The wingback certainly needs to be upholstered. Just need to find that right fabric!

carolins What a difference the chair with the floor lamp behind it make. And removing the end table and lamp was a good move too. It could be an idea to look for fabric with the turquoisy colour of the lamps in it for the wingback.

Woodland Custom Beam Company Hey there Byron. My company does custom beams http://woodlandbeam.com so I would be happy to answer your question - however, what really matters is where you live / the type of environment you live in. Generally Douglas Fir wont be a good outdoors choice if you live in a high moisture environment. When exposed to that type of environment the wood will eventually turn a dark grey color.

Byron's Cabinet Works Thanks for the info. The color change wouldn't have bothered me, I just wanted to know if they would rot?
I went ahead and spent the money and bought cedar. Cost a lil more, but I know I wont have to worry about it
    Thanks again
