I recently purchased a half glass door from a local glass manufacturer in VA. Love the look! The door does swing out for entry and access to water and cleaning and bathing kids etc. I didn't put a knob or handle on because I like the clean look. a knob can be added later after installation if you choose not to do it initially. Some water does get on the floor but its not substantial. It is a little "chillier" in there however due to the lack of a back glass panel. Suggestion: Put up a temporary spring load shower curtain rod at the height the glass would be. Run a piece of masking tape from the rod vertically down to the tub to create the feeling of what the actual glass door would look like in width and height. Step back and see if you like the overall look. Then add a shower curtain and pull it back to mimic the size of the glass door. Take a shower with the curtain in this position and you will know exactly how it feels and how much water will escape. Cheap and effective trial run ! Don't forget to aim your shower head down or to buy one that does so.
One more thing ..you can put in the half swinging door and still add a stationery glass panel to the back later if you are not content!
Worked for us ! Hope this helps

If you're starting from scratch, you can position the controls on the accessible wall, on the left, and the spouts behind the glass, on the right. Otherwise you're in a bit of a pickle.

2 renovations ago I put in a tub with a double hinged shower screen (you can find it by googling exactly that) in my master. The look was similar (not as good) but water got past the end of the screen and onto the floor. In the subsequent reno I went with a free standing tub and traditional glass shower doors. Would like to find a great solution for tub/shower combinations for the other baths in the house.
