Michael Abrams Limited Thank you so much. If you want a warmer / creamy white then go with Linen White. Mayonniase is bright, crisp and clean. Either one is good with Shaker Beige. I use a flat finish on the ceilings and a semi-gloss on all the trim. The sheen is what stands out but it is subtle.

Michael Abrams Limited Thanks for the kind words - I think you can mimic the palette and lines but white painted trim & stained oak are very different. If you have not selected a stain I would tell you to avoid the light and yellow options. I would suggest a Jacobean stain. Good luck.

Michael Abrams Limited I suggest sticking with one or two colors plus a trim color to provide consistency on each floor.

Michael Abrams Limited photo is featured in an ideabook: Why Men Really Do Need a Cave

katinam Mitchell, I was looking forward to reading this story and browsing the pictures until I read the very first line. If you are writing to "the ladies", I really don't understand why you would start with a paragraph insinuating all of us are hysterical control freaks trying to undermine all men's attempts at expressing themselves and having any fun. And if you wanted to trash talk women to appeal to other men, why not just write to the men directly, and maybe in a more appropriate medium like Maxim or something?
If you had started on a less sexist note, I would have been interested in your viewpoint. Everyone loves a space to call their own, and I have seen many retreats, including "man caves", that I enjoy looking at or hanging out in.
I guess some of your audience find your attitude funny and whimsical. I don't find this article funny or lighthearted - it's simply sexist and unappealing.

Michael Abrams Limited This was acquired by the owner when she purchased this condo. I was told it is called a "gentlemen's dressing chest" and it has small odd drawers. The inside make no sense for anything, however the piece itself is magnificent.

Michael Abrams Limited First, I wish you happiness in your upcoming marriage. I would suggest a darker wood floor finish, it will pop against the white trim and use a lighter color rug to make both the floors and the furniture look great. Best of luck and I'd love to see a pic of both the new home and the bride and groom.

Michael Abrams Limited Yes of course - kitchen planning is a response to the architecture among many things. However you always want to include a min. of 15 - 18" of clear counter space on either side of the stove.

Michael Abrams Limited This one takes me down memory lane, about 12-14years ago. I believe the cabinets came from BCS, Builder's Cabinet Supply in Chicago. I used a glaze...your guess is as good as mine. Thanks - Michael

Michael Abrams Limited Both are great questions. I would suggest the polished nickel coated brass channel and I like a shower door to be 30".

buywhatulove Wow! Thanks a million for your quick response! Considering that I have been pondering this and googling everything on the subject for the last two weeks, your input is extremely helpful. Ok, here's another quick question. We are going to use Starphire glass for the shower and a matching toilet room that is opposite the shower. (I like symmetry!) The toilet room, however, is going to be more opaque. One supplier is suggesting Satin Etched Starphire for the toliet door and panel. Another is suggesting a sandblasted glass with a protective coating. I am leaning towards the Satin Etched because I think it will hold up better. Do you agree? Also, do you think it is necessary to do one of the protective cleaning coatings, like Showerguard, over the clear Starphire for the shower and over the Satin Etched Starphire for the toilet area? Thanks Michael!

superstraw Wow! That's nice. Did you use ThermaSol's PRO Series system? You know it's the best. They even have an App the runs the whole thing from your iPad or smart device.

Michael Abrams Limited photo is featured in an ideabook: Measures of Remodel Success: Bathrooms by the Numbers

custom-tiles.com Helpful hint on tile/grout joint effect on tile installations - your 12x12 tile is probably NOT really 12x12, so if you want to figure accurately enough to size the installation including grout width: know that 'nominal' size (e.g., 12x12) is not the ACTUAL size. Ask or check written specifications for the actual size, try to find out what the average variance of tile size from this figure is. Tumbled tile typically varies the most due to the rounding and chipping at the edges. Tiles with larger variances from the 'average size' require a wider grout line to aid the installer in making adjustments to align the tiles.

puttul Thank you! I know this seems like a really dumb question.. But how does one recess lights into the ceiling?
12 days ago · Like

puttul I simply love the effect you've given the ceiling- a combination of big and small spotlights!! Creates such a lovely almost starry effect! I want to replicate this in my master bedroom.. It's big but not huge.. I have a bay window.. The walls are to be painted a light beige and I have polished white furniture.. Any suggestions?

Michael Abrams Limited The floor stain was a custom one done on site for the client, it is a combination of Jacobean and Walnut stain on Red Oak Hardwood. The cabinetry was specifed by Mick DeGiulo's office and they can share that information with you. The counterops are Carrara marble. When using this marble one must be willing to accept the patina that will occur.
