“I hired Metzger Design to finish the basement of a single family home I had just bought sometime in June of 2013. As a professional realtor with a PMP (project management expertise), I usually do more research and explore at least 3 contractors before choosing who I hire. With Metzger Design, I did not have to go to a second or third vendor to compare notes; I was convinced thru the owner and builder himself, Jared Metzger, that I will be in good hands. It was critical I hire a reputable, trustworthy, and highly competent contractor because I was still living in 2-3 hours away from the house I bought and so I wouldn't be able to check on their work on a regular basis. Metzger Design delivered the requirements of my home project on time, below cost projection, and most importantly according to my expectations. Walk thru requests were efficiently addressed. That is to me the essence of high integrity. And I liked Jared's concept and execution of design, not to mention his honest, professional, and friendly personality. We are now enjoying our nicely finished basement!”

“LU Pearce did a major renovation at our home on Gwynn's Island this past year. A new staircase to our second story was designed to replace a poorly situated spiral one. Ken was able to design exactly what we wanted and it came out beautifully, as if it had always been there. A coat closet (under the new stairs), powder room, and new master bath were also part of the project as well as renovation of a guest bath. Thad and the subcontractors were true professionals. They were easy to work with, patient and helpful in decision making from beginning to end. The project was completed within the estimated time frame and I was able to comfortably work with their allowances for lighting, vanities, fixtures etc. to stay on budget. We are very happy with the finished product!”

“Master bath/closet redesign. Relocated and redesigned master bath for better function of the room which allowed for an extremely spacious walk-in closet. “Nina and company just finished SAVING me. I am new to the area. New home. New Job. NO TIME to unpack and sleeping on my couch for the last 3 weeks with a bed I could not put together, while being completely overwhelmed with the mountain of unpacking and arranging during my short periods at home. I could not find the time to unpack and haven't had more than two days off in the last 3 weeks either. I was just about to have a melt down, when Nina came to the rescue! She and her staff came into my home and in one day, unpacked me, arranged my home even better than I could have imagined myself. Organised my closets even BETTER than I thought she could! “This builder is one of the best in the Greater Williamsburg area. This builder has a unique style which demonstrates building trends that last the year of time. Hertzler Brothers doesn't always build the same cookie cutter house by any means. Over the years, David Hertzler built houses with a Colonial style since the Williamsburg area expected it. Hertzler Brothers didn't stick to only Colonial, their portfolio of homes is impressive and diverse. In addition, this builder has traveled from Austrailia to the New England states to study architecture and housing styles. These interests and education are evident in each house built by this company known as Hertzler Brothers, Inc. David Hertzler's daughter, Amy has now become the backbone of this company by adding a Craftsman style with an energy efficiency by reintroducing solar panels for heating and cooling. She studied architecture at UVa. As well as architectural studies in Germany, and Switzerland. Her interest in modern and historic styles brings forth character in her work. In conclusion, Hertzler Brothers is not just a home builder. Hertzler Brothers has developed a signature building craft that showcases an art which lives on for many years. Just ask anyone who is living a Hertzler home built in the 1970's. I can tell you the comments will be that they love their home. In the early 1970s, I handed out brochures at An Open House or two for Salt Box and Colonial style for sale houses. I was ten or eleven years old back then and one of the builders' daughters. There were four brothers who started this business by the way. Although one brother continues to carry on their craft, it continues to impress buyers who appreciate fine building. I am proud to say that I sold another Hertzler home last week. I am C.
