This kitchen was originally constructed with a cooktop island in the middle of it just barely big enough for its stovetop let alone setting a pot off to the side. The island disturbed the flow both for cooking & entertaining. The countertops were a combination of tile, formica and a little granite. This kitchen will be gutted to the walls.

5/8" plywood tops were applied to the tops of the cabinets after they were installed and in place. Barragan Granite (whom I use for all my granite needs) made templates on site from which to cut the granite that exactly match the nuances of the kitchen. This is a stack of templates just prior to being transported to the fabrication yard.

Here's one of the templates and one of the slabs of granite. The four or five templates that were made will be fit atop the couple slabs of granite just like a puzzle and outlined on the slab. The garden window was replaced and the granite countertop was run out into the window leaving lots of open space behind and to the side of the sink. All clients really like the idea of an under mount sink when using a solid surface counter top. Nice to be able to swipe the countertops right over the cliff edge and not have to go over a rim. A new exterior exhaust was installed for this 700 CFM Kitchen Aide microhood. The stovetop was replaced and moved from its island position to this countertop position.
