A Playroom for the Whole Family

For this redesign, our assignment was to turn a playroom into a combination playroom / family room. This meant replacing primary colors with browns, greens and tans…keeping just a splash of red. And using fabrics that were more grown-up but still “kid-friendly.”

Most of the furniture in the room needed to stay. With the exception of the sofa. The client wanted to replace the small loveseat with a sleeper sofa–one that was “comfortable to sit on, lay on and sleep on.” Chairs and drapes could be recovered and changed. But we needed to keep the floor space open. After all, this was still a playroom.
