Classic Contemporary

by Adelene Keeler Smith Interior Design
This Corbu inspired modern residence touts a refined and sophisticated interior that remains engaging and fresh. Multiple built-ins, shadow boxes, high open ceilings for windward island ventilation, sunken floor plans, and rich wood applications in Hawaiian koa pine, Madeira burl, New England birch and hard rock maples are all featured. Hardy and sustainable materials found throughout this classic modern home unite in this tropical oasis. The interior design engages the use of natural fibers with nubby or breathable characteristics adding optimum comfort and textural interest. These subtle neutral components are then ignited with the placement of captivating artifacts, primitive masks, tools, and an array of other Polynesian art forms.
