Upper West Side Residence, West 81st Street

The creation of this single family home involved combining two 3,000 square foot, adjacent residences in a prewar building across from the Rose Planetarium. Work included the modification of the interior to create a large 800 square foot kitchen and family room, a music room and a playroom for the family’s young children.

All bathrooms were redone with new custom stone and tile finishes. All doors, trim and moldings were replaced with all new, custom materials to match the existing prewar style. The wood flooring was substantially replaced, sections of existing wood flooring and borders were repaired and refinished and new flooring was woven into the existing to create a seamless transition between old and new. The majority of the rooms received new custom cast plaster crown and cornice moldings and rooms with existing plaster elements required the restoration and/or matching of humidification systems were installed.
