Sutton Place Penthouse

A substantial renovation off Sutton Place in New York City, resulted in an Art Deco pied-à-terre that combines sparkling urban glamour, with home-style Southern comfort. ZMK was tasked with recreating the period features of this pre war apartment atop a boutique apartment building. Large, full height Hopes terrace doors that swing open to the outside and matching Hopes windows facing south, east and west flood the apartment with light. Throughout the rest of the apartment, rich wood paneling offsets Venetian plaster walls. Cerused oak kitchen cabinets and a recycled aluminum backsplash were installed in the completely custom kitchen.

Featured elements include dentil crown moldings, coffered ceilings, polished sterling silver door hardware and beautiful marble and onyx finishes. Completing the home is the central wood-burning fireplace with an imported English marble mantelpiece and a herringbone brick firebox.
