Shenandoah Solana Java - Deptford

The client wanted to have a contemporary open space concept to her downstairs. To accomplish this, I took out the wall between the kitchen and the dining room. I took the unused formal living room in the front of the house and turned that into the new dining room. This change allowed for the kitchen space to become a large open space.

The elements of the dark floors and dark cabinetry are complimented by a Quartz countertop and all of the stainless steel tile and appliances. This contrast enforces the modern feel the client was after.

By custom designing sliding barn-style doors between the kitchen and dining room, I was able to incorporate a hint of the industrial feel. They are hung with industrial style hardware which complements the stainless steel farm sink.
I also custom designed 2 large functional pieces of functional art for the kitchen by adding a large chalkboard and magnetic board. These pieces serve to incorporate the children while also further enforcing the aesthetic of the space.
