A new staircase with rich wood details was designed next to the dining area in an existing one-story Craftsman home. The stair wall was treated as a piece of furniture, with a custom design of box-like shelves and closed storage doors animating the elevation.

A new staircase was designed to access the new second story addition on an existing one-story Craftsman bungalow. A tall loft-like window at the landing allows natural light to reach the center of the home. Custom casework was designed to follow the contour of the stair.

A modern kitchen in a Craftman home
An open and ample kitchen layout allowed for the clients to assign zones - for making school lunches, pulling a shot of espresso, handling hot pans, cleaning the dishes, etc. - and make sure the whole family had space to work together. A clean and simple family bathroom
The owners wanted a single shared bath for their family of four. The compact bath was organized to provide enough space for multiple people, such as double sinks, and a shower large enough for two. An open floor plan for modern-day cooking and dining
By creating a new second story for the bedrooms, the downstairs layout became more open an flexible. What used to be a small kitchen, separate dining room, and bedroom became an open and airy cooking and eating space with the new stairwell providing lots of natural light into the center of the room. Light and space for creativity in the kitchen
A lowered counter area with a marble top, which is ideal for rolling and kneading dough, was located at the end of the kitchen layout, near the oven and bakeware storage. A floor-to-ceiling window provides light and the feeling of space within a room surrounded by cabinets.
