Budget Conscious Sunroom Addition

These homeowners are lucky enough to have a backyard that blends right into a forest preserve, and desired a room that allowed them to fully appreciate their view. They began working with Normandy Designer Gary Cerek to create a sunroom addition off of their existing kitchen which would include an eating area and lounge space, and of course, overlook their beautiful backyard. Another request by the client was to add a new island to their existing kitchen in order to allow informal seating for three to four people.

Budget was of the utmost importance, so the homeowners were open to new ideas throughout the design process that allowed them to stay within their price range while achieving their goals. For instance, they were looking for full height windows with a transom above, but the combination heavily increased the cost of the overall project. Gary suggested a casement height that would give the same effect as transoms, without the additional cost.
