This small courtyard behind a Scotts Valley condominium measures just 10 ft wide and 30 ft long. Nearly everything here was hand-crafted. The garden features a large, custom fountain with hand-sculpted bowls. Vivid bougainvilla, climbing roses, black bamboo, and large, architectural succulents are planted in the raised planter along the fountain wall. The gate, designed and built by John Johnstone, is made of reclaimed lumber and hand-wrought hardware of reclaimed iron.

This garden was featured in the February 2001 issue of Sunset Magazine when it was awarded a Sunset Western Garden Design Award.
